Sand Hutton PTA

Sand Hutton School enjoys a strong sense of community across its families and staff, and the PTA is fortunate to be able to harness this support across a wide variety of events and activities that provide important fundraising and socialising opportunities. These include Christmas/ Summer fairs, discos, film nights, competitions (e.g. best Easter bonnet / best scarecrow) and even some for the grown-ups (e.g. wreath-making).

Funds raised provide much-needed additional support to the school for the benefit of all our children, from covering travel costs for trips, to supporting teachers with their ‘wish list’ requests (e.g. sponsorship of animals, the purchase of equipment) and boosting funds for treats/ gifts for the children (e.g. lollies at sports day, leaver hoodies for year 6 children).

Not all our events are for fundraising, however. A regular fixture that brings our community together is our “Big Help Out” event held in Spring and Autumn, a legacy of the inaugural Coronation Help Out in 2023. This is a volunteering effort where families, friends and staff bring their energy and enthusiasm to help maintain and develop our beautiful school grounds. We’ve spent the last 2 help outs tidying, clearing, cleaning, planting and building, with a particular focus on the woodland area to support the development of forest school provision. Our ‘Help Out’ days have become a regular fun, family day, boosted by support from the local community too.

The PTA is a friendly group who meet regularly to plan these events, and alternates between ‘in person’ and zoom calls, to help ensure anyone who’d like to be involved, can be.
